Artist's Statement
Mystery, awe, and irony are words that I use to describe the interplay between environment, biology, and ecology. Its inherently connected dynamic process of life and death demonstrate the flow and co-mingling of these elements.
According to Professor E. O. Wilson, scientific humanist and biologist, nature is the way we connect to our spiritual roots. This notion challenges the belief that synthetic ecosystems are all we need.
Paint, metal, photos, color and a variety of other materials are the media used to create paintings and sculpture that give voice to these concerns. Narrative, humor and surrealism are the visual idioms that define these issues and simultaneously evoke our collective archival memory.
